Mexico shoot-out on Michoacan-Jalisco border leaves dozens dead

At least 43 people have been killed in a shoot-out on the border between the Mexican states of Michoacan and Jalisco.

A Federal Police convoy is understood to have come under fire when it arrived in the area on Friday morning.

The violence is thought to be drug-related and local officials have said that police are among the dead.

Mexico Correspondent Katy Watson says the area is known for a rivalry between two separate drug gangs.
