Yemen Muslim cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki is tried in his absence

A radical Islamist cleric, thought to be in hiding in Yemen, has encouraged attacks on Americans.

Anwar al-Awlaki, who was born in the United States, delivered his video message on an extremist website.

It comes shortly after authorities intercepted air cargo bombs sent from Yemen to the US in a plot linked to Mr Awlaki.
