Thousands protest in Yemen's capital Sanaa

Tens of thousands of people have flooded the streets of the Yemeni capital Sanaa, voicing their demands for the fall of the government and calling for the resignation of the country's president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

They showed no signs of leaving, singing national songs as they packed a Sanaa square late into Tuesday evening.

Grievances about the growing disparity between Yemen's poor and a small ruling clique have helped drive the protests.

Mr Saleh has blamed the US and Israel for the unrest in Yemen and elsewhere.
