Amateur video of 'protests in Syrian capital Damascus’

The BBC has obtained footage purportedly showing anti-government protests in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The amateur video is said to have been filmed at Souk Al Hamidiya - a historical market in the heart of the capital.

Demonstrators can be heard to chant "free Syria, free Syria" and "freedom, freedom, freedom".

The authenticity of this video has not been verified by the BBC.
