Yemen unrest: Troops fire on Taiz protesters

Yemeni security forces have fired on anti-government protesters in Taiz, killing at least 15 people and wounding many more, medical sources say.

Witnesses said snipers opened fire from the rooftops when protesters reached the governor's offices in the city.

Amateur video from Taiz on Monday purportedly shows some of the wounded being ferried by men on motorcycles and treated by doctors.

The BBC's correspondent in Yemen, who cannot be named for security reasons, said that the unrest in the country appears to be escalating.
