Golan Heights: Israel denies 'over reaction' towards protesters

Israeli troops are prepared for further violence following clashes with pro-Palestinian protesters in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Syrian state TV said 20 people died when protesters crossed the fortified border to mark the 44th anniversary of the 1967 Middle-East war.

It followed a similar incursion last month in which 12 people died.

Spokeswoman for the Israeli Defence Force, Avital Leibovich, said the protesters died after throwing Molotov cocktails which hit land mines in the area.
