UN criticises Syria's use of force against civilians

The UN Security Council has issued a statement condemning the Syrian government for using force against civilians, accusing it of committing widespread violations of human rights.

Activists in Syria say tanks and troops have moved into the centre of the city of Hama, as the security forces continue their crackdown on anti-government protests.
