Region steps up pressure on Syrian president
Reports from Syria say the army is shelling the eastern city of Deir al-Zour for a second day.
Activists and residents have said explosions resumed early on Monday, and that an unknown number of arrests were made by security forces.
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has urged the Syrian president to bring in reforms and stop what he called the "killing-machine" and bloodshed. The BBC's Jim Muir reports from neighbouring Lebanon.
