Syria unrest: US and Europe urge UN sanctions
Europe and the US have drawn up a draft UN resolution calling for sanctions against Syrian leaders, following the five-month crackdown on anti-government protesters.
It comes as the UN passed a resolution to "urgently dispatch an independent international commission of inquiry" and demanded an end to the violence against protesters.
But Russia and China have spoken against further action, with the Russian UN ambassador saying it is not the right time to impose sanctions.
