Syria: Call for 'more international pressure'
A former US State Department official has called for "more international pressure" to resolve the crisis in Syria.
Robert Danin, who now serves on the Council on Foreign Relations, said targeted sanctions and an amnesty for troops still serving President Bashar al-Assad could help resolve the situation sooner, minimising the number of casualties.
The United Nations says 3,000 people have been killed in Syria in the seven months of protests against the rule of President Assad.
