Shalit deal divides Israeli opinion

Israelis are preparing for the release of captured soldier Gilad Shalit, held by Hamas for five years, in exchange for more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Many of those to be freed were jailed for plotting suicide bombings or shooting attacks.

A recent opinion poll in the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth found that 79% of the Israeli public supported the deal.

But some, especially relatives of Israelis killed in such attacks, believe the price for Sgt Shalit's return is too high.

Four Israelis, including Sgt Shalit's mother, give their views.
