Reactions on Palestinians Unesco seat

Unesco, the UN cultural organisation, has voted in favour of membership for the Palestinians - a move opposed by Israel and the United States.

Of 173 countries voting, 107 were in favour, 14 opposed and 52 abstained.

Palestinians welcomed the decision, saying it is a step towards their ambitions of having an internationally recognised state.

Israelis, on the other hand, criticised it. They argue Unesco should not "act unilaterally" on the matter.
