Hague: Assad regime is doomed despite UN Syria veto
UK Foreign Secretary William Hague has said that President Bashar al-Assad's regime is "doomed" despite China and Russia vetoing a UN resolution condemning the ongoing violence in Syria.
Speaking in the House of Commons, he accused Beijing and Moscow of betraying the Syrian people.
His comments came as Syrian government forces stepped up their assault on the city of Homs, one of the centres of anti-government protests over the past 11 months.
