Tearful scenes as Cairo Coptic Christians mourn

Huge crowds have gathered in the Egyptian capital for the funeral of Coptic Pope Shenouda III, who died on Saturday.

A service was held at St Mark's cathedral before the late Christian's leader's body was taken for burial at St Bishoy monastery in the Nile Delta.

Shenouda, 88, was the spiritual leader of Egypt's Copts - who make up 10% of the country's population - for decades.

The BBC's Jon Leyne in Cairo said that there were "almost hysterical scenes" as the funeral came to an end.
