Syrian forces continue crackdown despite UN deadline

Syrian forces have continued their violent crackdown on rebels throughout the country despite the agreement of a peace plan deadline.

However, Kofi Annan's spokesman has said a UN team will arrive in Damsacus within the next 48 hours in order to discuss the deployment of international monitors.

The head of the Red Cross is also holding talks in the capital to try to improve the delivery of humanitarian aid.
