Egypt needs 'national dialogue'

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has met the head of the armed forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Prime Minister Hisham Kandil for talks as unrest over his leadership grows.

A opposition group had given Mr Morsi until 17:00 (15:00 GMT) to resign or face a civil disobedience campaign.

Alaa Mustafa, a spokesperson for the Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, told the BBC that President Morsi has repeatedly asked all parties for "a national dialogue."
