Egypt crisis a 'dangerous stalemate'
The US and the EU have called the situation in Egypt a "dangerous stalemate" after the country's interim government said foreign mediation had failed.
On Wednesday, a statement from the office of interim President Adly Mansour declared that diplomatic efforts had ended.
The army-backed government says it will break up sit-ins being held by supporters of ousted President Morsi, a move the Muslim Brotherhood says will lead to a massacre.
