Syria crisis: 'Senseless slaughtering must end'

UN agencies say the number of children forced to flee Syria has reached one million, describing the figure as "a shameful milestone."

Jan Egeland is a former UN relief coordinator and now Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council.

He has been travelling throughout the region this week and told the BBC he fears many young refugees are now losing hope and called for the "senseless slaughtering" to end.
