Syria: Arab League urges UN to take 'deterrent' measures

The Arab League has urged the United Nations and the international community to take "deterrent" measures against Syria.

At a meeting of foreign ministers in Cairo, the League again accused the Syrian government of being behind the alleged chemical attack in Damascus.

Syria has been suspended from the regional organisation since 2011 as a direct result of government repression during the civil war.
