Kerry: US 'grateful' for recent support on Syria

US Secretary of State, John Kerry, has welcomed a statement from 11 of the G20 nations calling for a "strong international response to a grave violation of the world's rules" - referring to the use of chemical weapons against Syrian civilians on 21 August.

Speaking from Vilnius, Lithuania Mr Kerry said: "We are very grateful for the statement that came out of the meeting today with respect of Syria."

He called it a "strong statement about the need for accountability" of the use of chemical weapons against Syrian civilians.
