Fears authoritarianism is returning to Egypt

Concern is growing in Egypt about a return to authoritarianism almost three years since the revolution of 2011 that overthrew Hosni Mubarak.

He was replaced in June 2012 by the Islamist Mohammed Morsi but he lasted only a year before being removed in a coup this July.

Since then Egypt has been ruled by a military-installed government which maintains that the country is on a path to democracy, but many fear the clock is being turned back.
