Syria opposition's aid agency faces criticism

The Syrian opposition's aid agency is facing accusations that inadequate monitoring of money is hampering efforts to help those most affected by the country's conflict.

Former staff of the Assistance Co-ordination Unit (ACU), which was backed by the US, UK and France, say millions of dollars have not been properly accounted for and have sometimes arrived late, or in the wrong place.

The claims follow a strike by ACU staff demanding reforms at the organisation. The ACU's president, Suheir Atassi, has denied the allegations.
