Russian gas giant cuts off Ukraine supply after failed talks

The Russian energy giant, Gazprom, has cut off its gas supplies to Ukraine.

They say that Ukraine must pay upfront for its gas now, after a deal to repay outstanding debts was not reached overnight.

Gazprom will continue to fulfil its commitments to Europe but warned that if any gas is siphoned off by Ukraine, then supplies to Europe will also be disrupted.
