Many Iraqi refugees 'still stranded' in the mountains

Iraq's former foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari has told the BBC that there are still many civilians stranded in the Iraqi mountains in the north of the country.

He insisted that the number of Iraqi refugees that were in need of help had not been exaggerated to the international authorities.

Earlier the US said a rescue mission to aid thousands or refugees who fled to Mount Sinjar was unlikely as it had found fewer people and better conditions than expected.
