Mers virus: Saudi Arabia camel traders unalarmed by disease

Health officials in Saudi Arabia say they are doing all they can to avoid an outbreak of the new deadly Mers virus at this year's Hajj pilgrimage.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome has killed just over 300 people in the Kingdom since it first emerged there in 2012.

Officials have been accused of not doing enough to contain the outbreak, but the country's acting health minister has told the BBC the situation is now under control.

There is a strong link to camels, but it is unclear how the virus passes from the animals to humans, and whether camels are the main source of the disease.

The BBC's Global Health Correspondent Tulip Mazumdar visited a camel market on the outskirts of Jeddah.
