Houthi rebels in control of Taiz in southern Yemen, officials say

Houthi rebels are in control of the strategically important city of Taiz in southern Yemen, according to officials.

The takeover sparked protests among local people, at a time of escalating violence by rival armed groups, including Islamic State militants.
