Egypt faces an outcry over the rise in death penalties

There is widespread criticism in Egypt over the growing numbers of people who have been sentenced to death in the past two years, in a crackdown on Islamists.

Supporters of the country's former president Mohammed Morsi say they are being targeted too.

Human rights groups claim the current government holds too much power over the courts - something Egyptian judges deny.
