Iraqi speaker: Prime minister can't control Shia forces

Iraq's parliamentary speaker, Salim al-Jabouri, has admitted that his government does not have full control of the predominantly Shia militia, the so-called Popular Mobilisation force.

The capture of Ramadi by Islamic State left the country with no choice but to allow the Iranian-backed forces to assist in Anbar province, which is overwhelmingly Sunni.

Giving a rare interview to BBC Arabic's Omar Abdel-Razek, Mr Jabouri gave a breakdown of the numbers of militia fighters in Iraq - and spoke about who paid and controlled them.
