Leading Iranian general killed in Syria fighting IS

A leading general in Iran's elite revolutionary guard has been killed in Syria.

Gen Hussein Hamedani died in Aleppo; reportedly killed fighting the so-called Islamic State.

Iran is a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and their troops have been fighting alongside government forces against a number of rebel groups.
