Air strikes alone 'cannot defeat IS' - Syrian National Coalition's Monzer Akbik
Air strikes alone cannot stop so-called Islamic State (IS) or Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, according to the Western-backed Syrian National Coalition's Monzer Akbik.
Mr Akbik told the BBC's HARDtalk that rebels could defeat IS with support of the allied air force, but they had their hands full fighting government troops.
He said there needed to be "a ceasefire on the regime front first in order for the rebels to fight IS" and defeat them in a "relatively short time".
