Iraq protest suspended 'out of respect for the pilgrimage'

Demonstrators in Iraq who had occupied parliament on Saturday have left Baghdad's government district, where they had set up camp.

The news was announced by the office of the Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, whose supporters make up the vast majority of the group.

It said the protests were being suspended to facilitate a Shia pilgrimage - but their campaign to change a corrupt political system would continue.
