Baby born by emergency caesarean as mother killed in Gaza
A premature baby was saved when doctors performed an emergency caesarean in Rafah, after the city was hit by Israeli air strikes on Saturday night.
Her mother, Sabreen, could not be saved, and died along with the baby's father and sister.
Medics said the baby was born in respiratory distress and was expected to stay in hospital for up to a month.
Palestinian health officials said 19 people, most of them children, were killed in strikes on the city that night.
The IDF (Israeli Defense Force) issued this statement: “At the given times, the IDF struck several military targets of the terrorist organizations in Gaza including military compounds, launch posts and armed terrorists.”
