Rashid Johnson creates art with soap and shea butter
Rashid Johnson is one of the most talked about young artists on the New York scene and is a nominee for this year's Hugo Boss prize. His work is often seen through the prism of race as it alludes to African traditions and important black figures and he uses unusual materials such as black soap and shea butter.
Alastair Sooke went to meet him as he put the finishing touches to his latest show at the South London Gallery.
