Thousands of people stranded in Pakistan floods

Rescuers in Pakistan are struggling to reach 27,000 people still stranded by the worst floods in 80 years.

With at least 1,100 people dead and large areas in the north west of the country still under water, it is now estimated that more than 1.5 million people are short of clean water, food and shelter.

Officials say they are worried about the spread of diarrhoea and cholera among the homeless. There are already reports of cholera outbreaks - and forecasters are warning there's yet more torrential rain to come.
