Medics killed in Afghanistan 'were not missionaries'

The 10 people shot dead in Afghanistan were an eye care team, not Christian missionaries, the executive director of the International Assistance Mission Dirk Frans says.

The team had been working for the past two-and-a-half weeks in the province of Nuristan at the invitation of the communities.

Police suspect robbery but the Taliban say they were behind the attack, claiming that the victims were carrying bibles and spying for the United States.
