UN: Pakistan disaster 'worse than 2004 tsunami'

The United Nations says the disaster in Pakistan, where nearly 14m people have been affected by monsoon flooding, is on a bigger scale than the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004.

A UN spokesman said that while far fewer people have died in the floods, in terms of the devastation this disaster is worse.

At least1,600 people have been killed in the flooding, which is the worst in the country's history.
