'A disaster of epic proportions'

Aid workers in Pakistan are becoming increasingly concerned about the spread of waterborne diseases in the country

The region's worst flooding in 80 years has affected 14 million and killed 1600 so far, with doctors warning that the figures could rise dramatically without key vaccinations.

Pakistan's president has directed that there should be no official celebrations of Independence Day on Saturday, and will spend the day touring affected regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is to also due to visit the country.
