Bangladesh: Change of inheritance laws prompts protests
Dozens of protesters were injured when they clashed with police in Bangladesh on Monday.
Demonstrators were angry over government proposals to change inheritance laws which would give women in the country equal rights.
Although Bangladesh is 90% muslim, the country operates under a secular government, however Sharia law is followed on matters of inheritance, where the woman normally inherits half as much as her brother.
Under the new rules, every child would inherit the same amount.
