Inside New Orleans' desolate Lower Ninth Ward five years after Katrina

Five years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward - the area hit hardest by the flooding - is still a desolate place.

Recovery in the traditionally proud working-class neighbourhood has been painfully slow - and with no infrastructure and few businesses, less than a quarter of residents have returned home.

But there are some people determined to rescue the Lower Ninth from the ravages of nature and make it home again, as the BBC's Andy Gallacher discovered.
