US President Barack Obama pledges Egyptian refugee aid in Libya

Barack Obama has authorised the use of US military aircraft to help Egyptians stranded in Tunisia to return home as thousands flee Libya.

The US president also authorised the US Agency for International Development to charter civilian aircraft to help refugees from other countries.

He said that the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi had lost the legitimacy to lead and "must leave".
