Jimmy Carter says US policy towards Cuba is 'a mistake'

Former American president Jimmy Carter says US policy towards Cuba, including the trade embargo and travel ban, is a mistake.

Mr Carter, who is wrapping up a three day visit to the communist run island, also called on the Cuban government to move towards democratic reforms.

But the visit produced no major breakthrough on the fate of the jailed US contractor Alan Gross.
