North Carolina suffers most deaths from three days of storms and tornadoes
At least 45 people were killed during three days of storms and tornadoes in the American South.
Rescuers are searching for survivors in North Carolina, where an emergency has been declared.
The state was hit by up to 62 tornadoes. Its 21 deaths were the most of any of the states affected.
Deaths have also been reported in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Virginia.
