Soaring costs put pressure on US manufacturers

The soaring cost of fuel and raw materials is putting increasing pressure on some companies in the US, especially in the manufacturing sector.

Many have taken on new staff in recent months but there are fears that their fragile recovery after the recession may be at risk.
