Disaster relief for flooded Memphis
President Obama has activated federal disaster relief for the southern US city of Memphis which has been hit by its worst flooding since the 1930s.
Low-lying neighbourhoods are under water following a sharp rise in the level of the Mississippi river.
The authorities have evacuated some areas, but officials say they are confident flood control systems will prevent further harm.
