Martin Luther King memorial opens in Washington

Crowds in Washington DC have entered the newly completed memorial to Dr Martin Luther King for the first time.

Master Lei Yixin, a Chinese sculptor, designed a statue standing 30ft (9.1m) tall, situated right between memorials for Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln, along the National Mall in the US capital.

Visitors talked to the BBC about their impressions, and about what it means to have the civil rights leader enshrined in such a prominent display.
