Obama to announce $300bn jobs package
US president Barack Obama will make a prime time address to the nation to announce a $300bn spending package aimed at creating new jobs.
The address which will be made before a joint session of the US Congress is seen as crucial to his chances of rebuilding the economy and winning a second term.
