Living with a gay partner in the US military

For over 14 years Michael Holtz has served in the US Army Reserve, while living in a long-term relationship with his partner Stephen Utley.

Under the US military's so-called "don't ask, don't tell" policy Mr Holtz could never share his sexual orientation with fellow soldiers.

But that's all changing and both men expect Mr Holtz's bond with his troops will foster an acceptance of his relationship with Mr Utley.
