Pew Research Center: Many US veterans 'do not back wars'

A third of post-9/11 veterans say the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have not been worth fighting, according to an opinion poll by the Pew Research Center.

Half of the veterans questioned said they thought the Afghan war was worth it, while 44% said the same of the Iraq conflict.

Nearly 4,000 veterans and members of the general public were surveyed in two separate polls between July and September.

Paul Taylor of the Pew Research Center said veterans ''are experiencing a lot of difficulties in their homecoming'', which included post-traumatic stress.
