Obama warns Congress on voting against jobs bill

US President Barack Obama has said his jobs act would insure the American economy against another downturn, even while the situation in Europe worsens.

Mr Obama said: "The problems Europe is having today could have a very real effect on our economy at a time when it's already fragile."

The bill is set to be debated in the Senate next week.
