Obama speech at Fort Bragg marks end of Iraq war

US President Barack Obama has marked the end of the Iraq war with a speech at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

His address paid tribute to the soldiers who served in the conflict - both those who died and veterans who returned home after long tours of duty.

"Today we pause to say a prayer to all those families that have lost loved ones - they are part of our broader American family - we grieve with them.

"You have shown why the US military is the finest fighting force in the history of the world," Obama added.
